On Friday, May 30, Fort Myers local, Pete Towle, along with his son-in-law, Matt Shelton, were near the now closed Joe’s Crab Shack, and heard the giant shark had been thrown in the dumpster. He pulled in and found a gentleman in the dumpster who had claimed the shark, now discarded in the trash.
Pete is a philanthropist with a heart for helping people, and he felt like this would be a fantastic opportunity to ensure the legacy of the shark lived on while also being utilized to help do something great for humanity.
Pete decided to use this as an opportunity to help finish a safe house for underage victims of sex trafficking in the country of Honduras with Builders International.
